چکیده
BackgroundAlthough the use of uniportal thoracoscopic technique has spread exponentially recently, a comparison nonintubated and intubated segmentectomies for lung tumors not been reported. We aimed to compare feasibility, safety, short-term postoperative outcomes between 2 methods.MethodsFrom January 2014 June 2019 we retrospectively reviewed 185 consecutive patients with who underwent segmentectomy at our institute. A body mass index ?25 kg/m2 was considered contraindication anesthetic approach. For remaining cases approach made discretion each individual anesthesiologist. propensity-matched analysis incorporating sex used clinical groups.ResultsFifty (27.0%) procedure The group more likely be female (P < .001) lower .001). Other features showed no significant difference. There difference groups in type according difficulty classification system. After propensity matching 43 matched were included. Anesthetic induction duration (12.0 vs 15.3 minutes, P = .014) shorter group. No other differences perioperative, postoperative, results noted groups.ConclusionsThe can safe feasible alternative segmentectomy. Although methods. From groups. Fifty

Enhanced computed tomography screening protocols have recently identified increasing numbers of small lung tumors in patients with high surgical risks (1). Consequently there has been increasing interest in minimally invasive surgical approaches, including thoracoscopic approaches, parenchyma-sparing resection, and less invasive anesthesia for management of lung tumors (2) . The role of thoraco...

OBJECTIVE The objective of the current study was to evaluate the feasibility and safety of nonintubated uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) for the management of primary spontaneous pneumothorax (PSP). METHODS From November 2011 to June 2013, 32 consecutive patients with PSP were treated by nonintubated uniportal thoracoscopic bullectomy using epidural anaesthesia and sedati...

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the feasibility and safety of thoracoscopic lobectomy without endotracheal intubation. SUMMARY BACKGROUND DATA General anesthesia with single-lung ventilation is considered mandatory for thoracoscopic lobectomy for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Nonintubated thoracoscopic lobectomy has not been reported previously. METHODS From August 2009 through June 2010, some ...

The development of thoracoscopy has more than one hundred years of history since Jacobaeus described the first procedure in 1910. He used the thoracoscope to lyse adhesions in tuberculosis patients. This technique was adopted throughout Europe in the early decades of the 20(th) century for minor and diagnostic procedures. It is only in the last two decades that interest in minimally invasive th...
